Woodwind instruments: bassoon, oboe, flute and clarinet

Recital for the Maelor Music Society

28th April 2019

"The Cuillin Sounds' concert was

an absolute delight-the programme

was full of gems from Scottish composers,

enhanced dramatically by the beautiful slide show

of the evocative landscape of the Western Isles "

"The four woodwind players were clearly masters of their

instruments as demonstrated by very fine solo playing.

Collectively they gelled beautifully and it was a rare treat to hear such

consummate woodwind playing in our rural heartland."

"Each piece was introduced by a member  of the ensemble, which helped build a. very good rapport with the audience."

( Geoff Mason , Chair , Maelor Music Society)

Cuillin Sound Concert for the International Balint Federation

Congress, Keble College Chapel, Oxford

7th September 2017

"Cuillin Sound performed for anaudience of delegates from over 25 countries, who were attending the

International Balint Federation Congress being heldat Keble College, Oxford in September 2017.

The concert took place in Keble College Chapel, a magnificent19th century building designed by William Butterfield in Gothic style and known to have an excellent acoustic for music.

The quartet did full justice to this reputation, with a spirited performance of worksby Jean Francaix, Frank Bridge, Malcolm Arnold and Matyas Seiber, received with enthusiasm by the international listeners. The combination of beautiful solo playing and ensemble was just right for an audience of tired conference goers at the end of a long day."

(Dr Ceri Dornan, UK Balint Society)

"...not only the evocative sounds of

the music, but also the accompanying visual images...... the combination was effective and strangely moving and was much appreciated by the audience"

(John Holt, Music in Argyll)

"It was a superb performance ....... which delighted the Skipton audience"

(Adrienne Fox, Skipton Music Club)
